susie63 Posted January 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2008 We've decided to head to Cemetery Beach. Am I correct in that we need to make prior arrangements with the taxi driver to be picked up? Are we allowed to bring a cooler and alcohol to Cemetery Beach? Also, can you please recommend a place for lunch and drinks on the beach headed back to the dock? Thanks! :D
drew sailbum Posted January 11, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2008 Cemetery Beach is near the north end of Seven Mile Beach. You walk down a marked path alongside the cemetery to access the beach. Though taxis are not normally waiting there, it should be fairly easy to hail a regular route bus for the ride back to George Town. Just cross the road and wait for any of the buses with a number 1 or 2 that are heading south. They will take you to the depot about two blocks from the waterfront. It should be US$2.50 per person. Coolers are common beach outing items. Remember to pack out everything you bring in. Cemetery Beach has very little in the way of facilities. Sometimes there are portable toilets set up there, but not always. There isn't much for food (other than a Foster's Grocery) within easy walking distance. nolaAlive Posted January 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2008 The bus (minivan) really is very easy to catch coming back. Also getting there. Not sure what they think of coolers, but if someone sits on it I doubt they would complain. Also if you are still wet bring a dry towel to sit on and try to brush the sand off before you get on the bus. jetta Posted January 20, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2008 We are interested on going to cemetary beach to snorkel, I've read there are no facilities there to rent snorkel gear, can anyone tell me where I could rent equipment to take there? nolaAlive Posted January 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2008 I have my own gear, but you can rent at Eden Rock Dive Center or Abanks Dive, both near the tender dock. Not sure what kind of deposit they want (cruise card?, credit card?). Be sure to allow enough time to return before getting back on the ship, http://www.edenrockdive.com/index.htm http://www.abanksdivers.com.ky/ I would contact them in advance to find out pricing and policy. jetta Posted January 20, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 20, 2008 Thank you for the info, I will check into both of them. How long a drive is it back to the tender boat?
