Private Tour guide at Dzibilchaltun?

Several of us are going to Dzibilchaltun on our own instead of the cruise excursion. Does anyone know if there are private tours guides available by the hour or per person when we get there? Should we go through Autoprogreso? Thanks. JB

There are guides, but Dzibilchaltun is really easy and fun to explore on your own. There's an exellent museum, The Museum of the Maya People, which explains a great deal, and the plants flanking the pathways are labelled. We just came back from Progreso. AutoProgreso does a tour for $29 / 4 hours. We didn't take it but I would have liked to. AutoProgreso is the company that runs the free shuttle from the ship to the end of the pier. They pass out their brochures when you get on the free bus.
