The itinerary of the QM2 July 2nd Voyage from NYC shows Boston 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. on July 4th. If correct this should give the passengers a good viewpoint to see the fabulous firework display in Boston harbor that evening. Anyone have any details about this opportunity?

We have been on the QM2 in Boston on the 4th. Unfortunately the fireworks are not, or were not, set off in the Harbour, but on the Charles River on I believe the Esplinade which is between Boston and Cambridge. Too far away and blocked by buildings from the Black Falcon Pier in South Boston. You could hear some "pops" and see some in the sky, but not realy a display.:(

Hi Browniecrb,

We experienced the July 4th in Boston in 2006 and saw a wonderful show.

It was a very rainy day till the evening when it cleared up.

Our ship (QM2) was meant to leave at 10PM also but they delayed the departure by 3/4hr (45mins).

See, the Fireworks Display are not set off till about twenty minutes to 11. It is the last part of the broadcast on TV by CBS network of the Boston Pop Show held in the Concert Park beside the Charles River.

We were wondering if we would have the opportunity to see them (fireworks) that evening or leave at 10PM. How can they advertise to us that we will see them if we leave at the departure time.

Well after the evening show in the theater, all the passengers attended a Rear Deck Party with Music, Dancing and Buffet to celebrate the 4th of July. As time went by, we were not leaving and we hoped to stay around for the show.

We started to back out of the Black Falcon Pier around 10:30PM. By the time we were out and heading out of the harbor, the QM2 moved very slow.

All of a sudden we heard the Fireworks from behind the Boston Skyline. The ship very slowly finally cleared the buildings and we had a full spectacular view of the sky and the Fireworks Show. The Captain kept the ship crawling slow for the full approx 20mins of the show.

Once the Firework Finale was finish, everyone applaused and the ship's speed increased.

We did get to see the Fireworks against the Skyline of Boston.

The one point that was great, how the Fireworks reflected off the glass buildings was a added show also.

Hi ELSO,

Thanks for your reply. It will help us to know what to hope for.

Hi CRB,

Glad To Share Info With You.

We did it once before along time ago with the QE2 and don't think Cunard had it planned right then.

This time was different and well planned especially with the intended delay of sailing around the time the Fireworks were to start.

To see the Fireworks off the Stern of the ship was truly great! The Open Sky & Skyline was our Theater Backdrop.

If you are interested in that cruise, hope it plays out the same way.
