cruisin'sz Posted January 23, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2008 Does it get chilly during the Whale Watching Tours in Feb - trying to decide if I should bother carrying a jacket or not.
whale-watcher Posted January 23, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2008 It can be slightly chilly on the water...even when it is warm. We were fine in short sleeves in January, however.
wrp96 Posted January 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2008 We were more than fine in short sleeves last Wednesday. It was very warm on our whale watch tour. But it was fantastic and worth the sunburn I now have.
Beach4me Posted January 25, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2008 I've only ever used one on an evening watch - and then I could have done without it really. The sun out on the water is very warm even in February.

You might need one if you catch an overcast and windy day, otherwise, no. But, do pack your sunscreen! Our sun is more direct here than most folks are used to and you can get burned really fast. beachchick Posted January 25, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2008 I recommend that you also wear a hat. There are many foldable/crushable lightweight ones you can tuck into a backpack when you don't need it. We love the Solarveil ones. I think ours is called the "Aussie" (or something like that). Really lightweight, good protection, and the band adjusts to fit everything from my "one size does not fit all" small head to my DH's "only in size, not in attitude" big head. beachchick
riandei Posted January 27, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2008 we just went this week ... we were on the smaller boat and there is NO shade and it was actually quite toasty ... you may need a light jacket if it is overcast but if its sunny ..no way
