Private tours?

While in st. thomas, would it be most advantageous for our group of 8or 9 to book a private driver to take us several places for the day, or hire taxi's as needed. We would like to go to sapphire beach, secret harbor, a few scenic stops and charlotte amelia for shopping before heading back to the ship. we will be in port from 10am to 8pm tia If a private driver is ideal can someone recommend one and fees if possible

taxi fares... Havensight to Secret Harbor would be $10 per person, one way. Secret Harbor to Sapphire would be a few dollars each. Sapphire to downtown would be $10 per person, one way. Standard tour rates: 2 hours - One passenger $50; two or more passengers $25 per person. 3 hours - One passenger $60; two or more passengers $30 per person.

thanks stephanie...you too! I will write a review on each port of call when I return. I do have a private tour set up for st. maarten w/ bernard. 40.00 per person so I will let you know about him also if interested. :)

I would definitely book a private tour. They will wait around for you wherever you stop, whereas a taxi could be more likely to pick up someone, run late, etc. We toured with Godfrey and absolutely LOVED him. I think you can rent out his entire truck if you have a large enough group. We paid $25 per person during a tour that had other passengers from different ships on it; we got 2.5 hours of shopping (downtown time), 2 hours of tour, and 2 hours of beach. I am sure if you chartered his tour to your entire group he'd do whatever you guys like. He was extremely knowledgeable of the island and brought us to some great lookouts for awesome picture opportunities.

I assume those open air vehicles don't have seatbelts?

 

Would they be hot in May while stopped in traffic?

Temps in May are usually low to mid 80s.
