Hi everyone,

We are first time cruisers and would like to know if it is possible to disembark after booking in on day one to visit a little of Barbados.

Also for shore trips is it best to wear sandals or closed toe type shoes for trips on a 4x4 adventure.

Is it best to book these trips with P&O or are they much better value going solo.

Getting very excited about our cruise and any help would be appreciated.

We arrived late evening so there wasnt time to go ashore before sailing.

There are shops in the docks area which sell to the ships.. you may be able to get to them. It really depends on the time you arrive. SOme people on our cruise had been on board during the afternoon but I didnt hear anyone say they went ashore. Think about it... with all the new people arriving and being processed if those on board then started trying to leave it would all get very muddled on the dock side !!!! as its very busy on arrivals day:cool:

Good shotes are alway best when going ashore but you could pack flip flops for the beach area. You see lots of people trip over.

have a lovely cruise

The first arrivals are around 2.00pm and if all flights are on time the last around 7.30 pm.

If you arrive early there are no problems in going ashore either to the port shopping area (which closes anytime between 4.30 and 5.30 pm depending on the ships in port) or downtown. Just be back on board for the safety drill at about 8.00 pm.

The first night is open dining with those early arrivees(sp) asked to go to first sitting.

Generally speaking trips you arrange yourself are much cheaper than ships tours, particularly if there is a party of you.

Hope this is helpful
