blm57 Posted February 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2008 Sailing on the Oosterdam next Sat and just got upgraded from a VF Guar to VB on Upper Verandah deck- what is the difference in these cabins - anyone know? Just curious - counting down the days now . . . :)
jtl513 Posted February 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2008 Mainly location - but with the VF you could have gotten a steel-wall railing on deck 4 above the show louunge, or you could have gotten one on deck 5 with a shallower verandah than VB. Sunshine91 Posted February 6, 2008 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2008 The difference in the cabins is likely minimal. The difference is going to be in the size of the balconies. Some of the VFs on Deck 4 (Upper Prom) have a steel wall across the balcony instead of the smoke-colored plexi. You can't see thru it. Also, those balconies are smaller, especially as you move further forward from the elevators as the ship curves inward towards the bow. So do those balconies. Just a bit. Then there's location. On Deck 4, the forward VFs are directly above the show lounge. You might be able to hear sound from the production shows. I don't know this for certain. Haven't read a whole lot of complaints about that here on these boards, but some folks are more sensitive than others. On Deck 6 (Upper Verandah), both above & below you will only be other cabins. Check out HAL's website for the deckplans: http://www.hollandamerica.com/fleet/deckPlan.do?ship=os&deck=uv&year=next Have a fantastic cruise! :)
