jkeitch Posted February 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2008 The Biscayne Blvd location looks very close to the Cruise Port. Is it close enough to walk to? We expect only to have one suitcase each (with wheels). Apparently Thrifty does have Cruise pickup but only to the Airport Location which seems kind of redundant to me. Also, should I be getting insurance with my car rental? If so, which one. They all seem to have many options. What about the GPS? Seems like it might be a good option to have in an unknown city. Thanks.
hkrsk Posted February 6, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2008 I'm not familiar with the Biscayne Blvd. location. I can tell you that we had a rental reservation with Dollar (which shares its airport facility and shuttle bus with Thrifty), and the shuttle buses only run every 45 minutes- 1 hour. Not only that, we almost couldn't get on the bus after waiting for an hour because there were so many others also waiting. I think it's a much better idea to find a close location, like you are doing, and even taking a taxi if necessary. Relying on the shuttle could really mess up your schedule. jkeitch Posted February 6, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted February 6, 2008 The Biscayne location looks like it's just across the street from the Bay Shore market. I figure if it's too far to walk, a cab shouldn't be too much at all. The car is under $37 for the day before insurance so i think we can afford an extra $10-15 for a cab, but i doubt it will even be that much.
