I would recommend Grand Case. It is so beautiful there...and yes, it has that little village feel to it. It was recommended to us by a local lady we chatted with at Orient Beach. We had lunch here at a "lolo". It's BBQ done by the locals....great food and good prices. Behind the lolo's there is the picturesque calm bay.

boquer, you are very welcome. Happy to help. :) If I were to do a land vacation in St. Martin, Grand Case is where I'd stay. Lots of restaurants too in addition to the lolo's. We rented a jeep and drove all over the island...Grand Case and Friar's Bay Beach were my 2 fav stops. Not the usual stops for cruise travelers.
