Aloha Posted May 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2004 I was watching Great Hotels this morning on the Travel Channel. The feature was Turtle Bay Resort. Samantha went to a restaurant of the hotel that was right on or very near the beach. I have completely forgotten the name. I wanted to look for reviews. Any idea what the name is? spleen93 Posted May 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Samantha ate at the Sand Bar (web page). Never ate there so can't comment but it's relatively cheap for what you get. The fancy restaurant in the resort, 21 Degrees North, is a mixed bag ... eaten there twice now. It's OK ... no Roy's or Alan Wong's, that's for sure, but your choice for fine dining on the North Shore are limited so it may be worth it from that standpoint. Otherwise, I would tell you guys to look elsewhere for food ... not sure if the bang for the buck is there. spleen93 Posted May 11, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 11, 2004 Roy's - Roy's - Honolulu (808) 396-7697 6600 Kalanaianaole Hwy., Honolulu, HI 96825 Email: honolulu@roysrestaurant.com. website Alan Wong's - website Certainly not cheap meals by any definition of the word. But some of the best food that the islands have to offer ... Both of these are in town so far from Turtle Bay. cruisecrasy Posted May 11, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 11, 2004 Enjoy your postings. Perhaps u wld be kind enough to suggest some other Honolulu restaurants we can try that are maybe a tough cheaper than Roys & Alan Wongs? Have been there many times but not for several yrs now and things change rapidly as u know esp in the restaurant business - good today not so good next month even. We will be there for a couple of weeks pre & post cruise so need places to eat and enjoy experimenting too. Someone that has been there and done that is the person to get recommendations from I believe...Appreciate u taking your valuable time to answer. Happy cruisin'! spleen93 Posted May 12, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Cheaper options: Pineapple Room, somewhat more casual version of Alan Wong's (webste) Another classic is Kakaako Kitchen located in the Ward Centre (website) - sorry, can't find a direct website.
