royntrace Posted February 14, 2009 #76 Share Posted February 14, 2009 Here's the reply I got when I checked with Cunard before booking any more cruises (I cross 4 times per year) after reading all of these "oh goody, there's no more smoking" posts. Cunard confirmed that smoking IS ALLOWED in the Golden Lion Here is Cunards reply Dear Mr. Smith, Thank you for your email below. Smoking is permitted in the Golden Lion Pub in designated areas per the below: Golden Lion Pub Features · Styled after a traditional English Pub · Small Dance floor · Capacity for 105 seated guests plus 18 bar stools · Draft beer and a wide selection of ales and lagers · Area is 2,960 square feet · Excellent sea views · Children allowed Smoking permitted in designated smoking section. Why is it that people who have a problem with smoking in the pub don't just use a different bar? It's not as though there aren't any "non-smoking" bars for them is it? Or do they just like to find something to moan about? Roy
maxcom Posted February 19, 2009 #77 Share Posted February 19, 2009 I myself do not smoke but my dear wife does, so should cunnard or other lines decide on no smoking policy it would mean the end of cruise holidays for me as my wife would not entertain a holiday if she could not have the occasional cigarette. While i appreciate everyones different opinion i do feel that area should be made available for smoking . hopefully the total smoking ban will not come into force as i truly love my holidays and my wife i would not like to have to choose , a holiday that i did not enjoy as much as cruising to ensure i spent my holiday with my loved one whom ive been married to for some35 years, So in my opinion i hope commonsense prevails
ctguy001 Posted February 20, 2009 #78 Share Posted February 20, 2009 I checked with Cunard today before I put down a deposit on QV. Their response was: Smoking is allowed in staterooms and on balconies, in Churchill's Cigar Bar, in the Golden Lion Pub (except during times when food is served) and in designated areas on outside decks. I guess I'm safe for a while until the "green machine" banishes us all to a square yard on the fantail while the ship is in motion.

That is for the QM2 Not the Victoria. You can't smoke in the Golen Lion on the Victoria but you can smoke in the casino and Churchills. You can also smoke in your room, balcony and one side of the ship on deck but thats it.
