Rome, Italy (Navigator of the Seas)

We are going to the Eastern Mediterranean on the Navigator, August 31, 2008.

Before we board, we are planning on arriving two days earlier to enjoy Rome. If you have any suggestions and or information to share, we would appreciate your help. This will be our first time in Rome and we are hoping we can make some plans before we arrive. What to do, what not to do? What is the best way to get around as far as transportation?

 

If you've done this itinerary before, leaving from Port Civitavecchia, to Sicily, Italy Athens, Greece, Ephesus, Turkey Heraklion, Crete please any advice would help.
