broccoli Posted February 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2008 We will be taking a 4 hour Royal Caribbean tour of Athens that will either drop us off for shopping at Constitution Square or take us back to the ship at the conclusion of the tour. We would like to shop and explore some on our own so my question is how far is Constitution Square from the dock? Would it be pricey to get back to the ship with a taxi? Also, is the Plaka anywhere around Constitution Square? We will have about 3 hours before we would have to be back on baord.
Susan-M Posted February 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2008 Syntagma Square (also known as Constitution Square) is in the historical district of Athens, and borders on the Plaka. http://www.athensguide.com/syntagma.html It's at C-3 on this map, where you can see it's location in relation to the Acropolis and the Plaka http://www.chem.uoa.gr/Location/AthensMap/Athensmap.htm We took the subway, which takes approx. 25 minutes to Piraeus, and then another 25 minute walk. I'm not sure about the cost of a taxi, but maybe you can find another couple on your tour to share a taxi ride back. It's worth spending some extra time in Athens if you can. :)
