Best snokeling trip in Belize

We swam with the sharks and stingrays. It was the best experience we have ever had. And we snorkel in nearly every port we visit. Lunch was included on Caye Caulker which was fantastic and a beautiful little island. We also had some time to shop on this little island. The locals were wonderful people. This excursion had two snorkel spots. One was called Coral Gardens and was absolutely breathtaking - then it was on to Shark Alley. We had three nurse sharks come up, one barracuda and a lot of HUGE stingrays. Totally awesome!

We had originally booked ours with Carnival but had a strong feeling that it was going to be cancelled. I contacted Coral Breeze Tours online and started talking to them. They understood that I wouldn't know if it was cancelled or not until I got on the ship. They were awesome and held 6 spots for us "just in case" we needed them. They said to just come to the pier and ask for them. As it was - our excursion with Carnival was cancelled. I got some internet time right away and emailed them to say we were definately coming. They emailed me back just to say they received my email and were looking forward to seeing us. What great customer service! They did all of this without a deposit since they knew we had already paid for our Carnival excursion. We paid them cash when we met up with them and I must say - I would go with them again in a heartbeat! If you go - I hope you have Henni and Captain Mark - they were awesome. I will say - the nurse sharks are supposed to be babies - they were 5-6 feet long. The stingrays are huge and not as tame as you would find in Grand Cayman. Just so you are aware that these animals are clearly out in the open. Captain Mark was in the water with us and kept a good handle on all of the animals. He even pulled one large stingray away because he was a bit bothersome. Also - if you go - be ready to get in the water right away on the shark alley stop because the sharks come and before you know it - they are gone. They're pretty shy. The stingrays hang around and like the sharks - the one barracuda that came - left pretty quick.

While I think the shark trip sound amazing (might have to try that one next time around), if you are needing something a little more traditional, Goff's Caye was excellent. We liked the fact that you had the option of going onto the island (about the size of a football field) and wading in on your own, or going out a bit on the boat.

Can you clarify this? Do you mean that I can take my family and my older son and myself could go on the boat and snorkel, while my wife and younger son could stay on the island and swim? Is there any food establishment or anything on the island? Did the Goff's Caye involve snorkeling with the rays?

Thanks!

Jeff- If you book with Coral Breezes they take you from Belize City to Caye Caulker (45 minute boat ride). They stop for sardines for the rays/sharks and any passenger that wishes to stay on the island can get off the boat. There are beaches, shops, restaurants and all walkable. Everyone speaks English in Belize. Then after snorkeling for about an hour you will return and meet them again to have lunch yourself. We did this tour on Wednesday- my husband and two daughters, 12 and 16. I highly recommend the guides, the company and the tour. The snorkeling was incredible. Hope this helps

We were on the Spirit feb 3rd, and had a wonderful time by booking with Linda at Sea Sports Belize. We were escorted on a private chartered boat with a wonderful guide named Eli. My self, my husband and two daughters age 7&9 were catered to in every way. They made several stops for us to snorkle and the reef was beautiful. It was also great the we were able to do what we wanted, when we wanted. I would highly recommend this company and plan to use them again. They can be contacted by the web at Seasportsbelize.com

We just did this excursion with Ecological tours last week. Same thing.. we took boat ride to Caulker Caye and dropped off the folks that were not snorkeling. We went out to Coral Gardens and then Shark Ray alley. We didn't see the nurse sharks because it was mating season but we did hold the sting rays and see the barracuda. Our lunch was not included but we found a good place to get some. My only complaint is that this tour was supposed to start at 10:30 but they kept pushing the start time back (I think to wait for more people to see if they could fill their boat) They did get us back to pier 1 hour before the last tender to ship left. It was a lot of boat riding (tender to pier, ride to Caulder Caye and then back). The guides were good and he gave us a good history of Belize on the way out which was nice.

The tour through amphilife.com. I've heard it mentioned a few times on here, and have corresponded with Roger at amphilife. I told him I was a bit apprehensive, as he wasn't real widely-known here on CC, and he sent me links to a bunch of tours with other cruiselines that he's their contracted vendor for.

The tour takes you to a small, completely private island (Rendezvous Caye) right ON the reef. Supposedly the snorkeling is awesome completely around the island, plus the non-snorkelers have the beach to lay/play on. And they provide snacks and beverages. for $50 pp.

check it out.

Thank you to everyone,

I'm not sure that you help me choose the best tour... everybody had so nice comments for each tour that I don't know which choose...

Ok lets try this ?

After snorkelling with rays and sharks, which one is the most beautiful beach ???

Is it always around 45 minutes to go to the reef ?
