A Little News for Maya Buffs

I just ran across this article from Reuters--it refers to new discoveries in Guatemala, but of course in Mayan times there was no Belize/Guatemala border anyway, and the Mayan world--well, no one knows the "borders" yet, I think it is safe to say! But take a look for yourselves--it's an unfolding universe!

Isnt it amazing how science and nature can go hand in hand! Dont you wonder what we will find in the next 10 years with the developments in technology and the ability to use this technology, such as the "spy satellite" for historical research?!!

Where is Atlantis? Maybe someday we'll cruise and scuba dive there too!!

We had the most experienced tour guide in Belize, a 6'3" tall native Belizean known as "Major Tom." But if anyone tries to tell you so much as his last name, it is stricken from the Boards. If you care to write me direct at dreynolds@aol.com I will try to give you an answer which will be more satisfying to both of us . . . .

Hey Driftwood, I have apreciated your informative and intelligent musings on Belize and Guatemala. Thanks for the link to new discoveries via satellite. I'll be in Belize for the day on 3/5, but hope to do a more extensive land trip in that area next year.

. . . their website is

http://www.mayavistabelize.com/

there is quite a tour operation of the extended Maya world at

http://www.themayantraveler.com/Mayan%20Ruins%20Tours.htm

and the Belize Tourist Board has a wealth of accurate information at

http://www.belizetourism.org/

I would try just typing in "Xunantunich" to any web browser and see what pops up. The site has been around for quite a while . . . .
