We are ON the Gem!!

Oceanlover,

The Atlantis is definately a one of a kind, beautiful hotel. We went there but you can't use their beaches unless you are staying there or at the Comfort Suites. You need a pass to roam around most of the grounds.

3 of us gals are going on the Gem May 16 for a 50th birthday. We are doing the Med Cruise out of Barcelona. What are the ages of the group on your ship? Any other details about the types of passengers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Join the May 18th Roll call which is the sailing I assume you meant. Perhaps your going in 2 days prior?

Go To Roll Call Boards, Click on NCL Gem, then May 18th sailing.

We are just curious. What is the need for a room when going to Atlantis? We read several times that people have gotten a room when visiting Atlantis. Just wondering what the purpose was behind that idea.

Well, for a couple of reasons, you can get up to four passes into Atlantis, which includes; The Dig, the beach and the water park, saving some money if you can get a decent rate at the hotel. I think the excursion for the whole day is $149 per person. We only paid $220 for the room. Secondly, we had a nearby place to go take a shower, change and then head to the casino and just explore.:p

Hi travelgurl' date='

Thanks so much for checking in from the Gem. Welcome home to the snow and cold!

Hope you put up an "official" review!:D

How was the trip home?[/quote']

The trip home was so calm, I couldn't believe it. We really were lucky with great weather and mellow seas!! Temps in NYC in the 40's so not too bad. We also got back almost 2 hours early! I will work on an "official" review and post in next day or so. You are quite welcomed. I'm glad you enjoyed!!

Thank you so much for your responses. Just one more question. How or should i say when did you guys book a room at the suites. Did you do that before you got on the ship or did you do it from the ship. That sounds like a great idea and we definitely want to explore Atlantis. Please let us know so we can book right away if we need to. Thank you again for all of you help.

We booked a room at Comfort Suites using the following internet link: http://www.smartertravel.com/discoun....html?id=16348

click on the link that says "simply click here" once you're in that site. It will allow you to book a room at a discount at Comfort Suites next to Atlantis and you get full privileges at Atlantis for up to four people. My rate is $220 including tax. For each additional person it is about $50 (I asked) and you can get up to 4 passes. They will give each person a card stating you paid which you take to one of the "Towel Huts" at pool area of Atlantis. There you will get wrist bands. The woman barely looked at the card, returned it to us and put on our wrist bands.

We booked it a couple of weeks before we went. You can also go to the "ports of call" on the boards and click on Bahamas. The is a wealth of information to be found! Good luck!

Sounds like a great time! Did Claudio happen to mention that he was leaving on vacation? There was an earlier thread about Lisa taking over as the concierge in early March. Thanks and welcome home!

Hi Jeanne!

It was great to meet you and Chuck as well even if it was at the end of our cruise that we were able to get together! I hope we meet again on another cruise sometime. I'll have to brush up on my bowling!
