Going to St John

We did it on our own this past week. We too taxis to Red Hook ($10 pp) and the ferry ($5 pp free under 12), then a taxi to Trunk Bay ($4 pp).

Trunk Bay was the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The drive to and from the ferry is spectacular. We had heard it would get crowded around 10:30. We got kind of a late start and didn't get to Trunk Bay until about 10. Within an hour the cruise ship tour cleared out for their next stop and it became quite comfortable.

Plenty of shade too for those of us just enjoying some sun and not looking to worship Mr. Sun. My son got burnt quickly so be careful.

We took the ferry back to Charlotte a little longer ferry ride, but it let us off rght near the ship and a cab to the ship was $ 4pp. Gie yourse4lf 2 hours to get back to be safe not to miss the ship (it took us 1.5 hours from Trunk Bay to the ship).

I would recommend going this route. All in all a great day. If you're worried about doing this on your own- don't be.
