Susan-M Posted March 2, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2008 The following methods give you a reserved time, without advance payment, and are probably the least expensive way of getting tickets (other than standing in line once there.) Vatican Museums/Sistine Chapel: http://mv.vatican.va/3_EN/pages/z-Info/MV_Info_Servizi_Visite.html (we did the Guided Tour for Individuals ... not sure if you can just do the Sistine Chapel, or if it has to be in combination with the Museums.) Reservation is made by fax, no more than 30 days in advance. Accademia, Florence (Statue of David): http://www.firenzemusei.it/00_english/servizi/index.html Scroll down to "Booking" ... the reservation is made by phone. Acropolis: No lines when we arrived shortly after 9 a.m., before the crowds. Pompeii: Again, no lines when we arrived (mid afternoon). Most people on CC suggest buying Colosseum tickets at Palatine Hill. http://goitaly.about.com/od/romeitaly/qt/colosseumticket.htm
