We have never been before so nee to know how far from dock - how far away arport is - what should we be looking to do and where to stay If you are sailing out of Port Canaveral..you will fly into Orlando. We love going to all of the Disney parks. Plus..there's many many other things and places to see in the Orlando area. :) (Orlando is about a 45 minute drive from Port Canaveral) You didn't say where you were sailing from. I don't know much about Miami or Ft. Lauderdale area to tell you what to do once there. Good luck. :)

DEBS@40 Posted March 2, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 2, 2008 If you're sailing from Port Canaveral then Orlando is the place!! The first thing to think about is car hire do you intend to? if so then you have so much choice anywhere near the I4 is a safe bet if not doing car hire IMO I would go for something on International Drive my favourite, I stayed near wet n wild and loved being within walking distance of eateries some shops and the local bus, I have also stayed in Disney All Stars kids will have a hoot and all transportion to the disney parks and down town disney is included. Whatever you decide you're gonna love :)
willysgrandma Posted March 2, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 2, 2008 If you are going to stay in Ft Laudedale, I would definitely try and find something on the water - what better place to enjoy the beach?

Donedeal Posted March 3, 2008 #8 Share Posted March 3, 2008 If you are flying into Ft. Lauderdale airport and leaving out of Port Everglades (FLL) the port is only 10 minutes from the airport. Ft. Lauderdale is a beautiful beach. Most of the hotels are across the street from the beach so that you can drive down A1A and see the ocean. The hotel that is actually on the beach is the Sheraton Yankee Clipper. If you are staying in Ft. Lauderdale for a few days there are many things that you can do. It is best if you rent a car. For shopping try Sawgrass Mills Mall. For nightlife there is the Seminole Hard Rock Casino complex with many nightclubs and restaurants. You can take airboat trips into the everglades. There are many good restaurants in town. There are many things to do if you have children as well. You will certainly enjoy it!
