Miami - downtown vs. Coconut Grove/Coral Gables

Good morning,

 

I need a room for Friday 4/18, as I'm on the Carnival Freedom 4/19. I have stayed at Holiday Inn Port of Miami before, and was trying to get back in there, but they are booked. I like the location b/c of the Bayside Marketplace, it will give us something to do for the afternoon and evening. I am having trouble finding a reasonably priced hotel in the downtown area though, I have even been trying Priceline to no avail. If I expand my search to Coconut Grove/Coral Gables, what is there to do in that immediate area? And if I try Priceline and get one area over the other is that too risky? Or is there cheap transportation to get to Bayside Marketplace (I don't want to spend a lot of money on taxi's ect). We will be arriving about 1pm Friday afternoon, so there is a good amount of time. We are two adults, approx 30 years old. Thank you

I'd go for South Beach on PL. Bid only for a 4 star.

 

Street life in Coconut Grove or Coral Gables is way more interesting than Bayside. Stick with a 4 star and you will be fine. More shopping, many more dining options.
