Does Holland America answer e-mails?

I've been waiting 5 or 6 days for a reply. Is that normal?

Yes! Who did you e-mail? Call Guest Services and ask for the Coordinator of the ship you will be on. Or, are you trying to find the excursions or Air department?

It was a simple question "What time can we board in Vancouver as we are joining a cruise that starts in San Diego", and gave the ship name and date. I'd have thought I'd have had a reply by now.

I'll call closer to departure date if they don't e-mail me back.

The official answer will probably be "1:30p", but in fact in most ports boarding starts around 11:00a to 11:30a under normal circumstances.
