Uruguay/Montevideo Wine-City Tour

Just returned from Celebrity Infinity South America 2/15 sailing and wanted to share a wonderful independent tour experience. Name of the company is Lares Tours. We had a full day tour including downtown Montevideo, and a trip to Bouza and Juanico wineries. A fabulous lunch was included at Bouza--unfortunately we were so stuffed from lunch we couldn't eat much at Juanico! I was just looking at getting a taxi to Bouza and taking the wine and tasting tour that they offer and then going back to Montevideo to do the town on our own. Do you think this could be done? Also what did it cost you for your tour.

We did Bouza on our own in January on our Azamara Journey cruise. We negotiated a cab ride to the winery at the pier for four of us at $20 per person or $80 round trip. It is about a 35 minute cab ride. Our driver waited for us while we did their tour, tasting and lunch. We made our reservations with Christina at bodegabouza.com and were very pleased with our choice.

We wanted a city/wine tour that included both Juanico and Bouza--it was around $85 pp, including driver/guide, lunch, wine pairing, tour at both wineries and city tour. We thought it was a great value and the lunch was outstanding. I am sure it can be done if you just want to go to Bouza as Gonzo2 did, if that's all you want. Enjoy!
