cali-croozer Posted March 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2008 I see you recently sailed to Alaska on Celebrity and have a question about daytime wear on the ship. Somebody on the Celebrity board posted the dining room rules from her recent cruise that stated jeans were not allowed in the dining room at any time. Now, I know, of course, they are not appropriate for dinner. But, what about for breakfast and lunch since it seems that a lot of people wear jeans around deck on an Alaskan cruise. Do we really need to add yet another category of clothes to our packing list (daytime dining wear??) . This is my first "cold weather" cruise. GORDONCHICK Posted March 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2008 Jeans are fine anywhere on board except the dining room for dinner. What ever you'd wear into port for an Alaskan excursion will be fine in there for breakfast and lunch. Alas, we never made it there for either of those meals because my DH & DS are so attached to the waffles on the aft deck at breakfast. I wanted to eat there for lunch, but we ended up doing what was easiest for the little one. But there is also a buffet for breakfast and lunch, so the dining room isn't the only place to eat. There just isn't a buffet in the evenings. I don't know if they will be doing this in 2008, but last season when the ship was in port late (I can't remember which port), there was open seating in the dining room (you just showed up at no particular time and got seated with other people and not at your regular table), but same dinner attire was expected. If you like pastries at all, you might want to make it a point to check out Cova Cafe's pastry cart in the morning. I've heard the chocolate croissants are wonderful, but I'll never know because I live for their almond croissants!! Absolute heaven!
