tampa hotels pre cruise

anyone have any good ideas for hotels the night before the cruise in Tampa?

we also need transportation from airport and also to the port the next morning.

I personally recommend Chase Suites. They will not only provide transport from the airport to the hotel and to the port but they will pick you up at the port and take you back to the hotel.

I second that - Chase Suites even took us to Walmart and the Liquor store the nite before the cruise.

We have used, Courtyard by Marriot, DoubleTree and Residence Inn, all were fine. We take a taxi for transportation. Sometimes the wait for the free shuttle is just too long.

Weare staying at the LaQuinta Inn Tampa Bay Airport. We are told it is close to the International Mall. I thought on a thread long ago someone mentioned that there was an Italian restaurant at that mall that was awesome. Does anyone know the name or have any other suggestions. We are planning on eating at Ihops for brunch (yes, I have 3 children who love the place and we don't have it in our area) but would like something else for dinner. Also, has anyone ever used the Blue-1 shuttle service that will take you from the hotel to the port. I think it is $10 pp. Or what about the Bay Area Shuttle at $11 pp and $6 for kids 3-11. If you have taken a taxi, what is the approximate cost. We have 5 people in our family. I think those are my 3 options.

I don't know how convient it is from the airport but why not stay right at the port! We love the marriott waterside and the Embassy suites right across the street, both are GREAT and seconds away from the port, you take a trolly to the port or you can easily walk , or drop off you luggage at the port and then go to the aquarium or grab some lunch at one of the many restaurants surrounding the port........We love the Tampa port and we love Channelside (which the port is in) and Ybor City. You can ride the trolly all day and night for only $4.00!!! Enjoy your trip!
