nsbirdie Posted March 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2008 Help, we are having a hard time with logistics. We disembark at Civitavecchia October 18th at 4am and do not fly till the next day at 6am so we have 24 hrs. We do not have a shuttle or whatever arranged into the Fiumicino Airport yet as it seems a waste of a day to get there then have to get to a hotel close by which will require a taxi ride both ways. We tried to rent a car in Civitavecchia so we could drive to a hotel between Rome and the airport, drop it and take the train in for the afternoon. Even thought of getting a hotel in Ostia Antica and just staying there but once again the only way we can get there without having a car is expensive taxis or convoluted train connections. Car rental out of Civ. requires a 3 day minimum. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Rare carlmm Posted March 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2008 One suggestion: Take the train from Civitavecchia to the main station in Rome, Roma Termini, and store your luggage there. Enjoy a full day in Rome and when ever you are ready take the Leonardo Express to the airport. Stay there in an airport hotel. PS: I was tempted to say "Or enjoy all the evening and early night in Rome and just skip the hotel at all" but I am not sure if this is advisable :)
Fblack Posted March 10, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2008 First, you should try getting something other than a 6:00AM flight. Absent that, stay at the Rome Airport Hilton. It's connected to the airport. It may not be easy to drag lots of luggage, but at least you will be at the airport. " It's just a short walk from the terminal to the Hilton Rome Airport hotel via moving walkway, and Rome, the Eternal City, is 30 minutes away by free shuttle.
