bnsilly Posted March 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2008 We are booked with Marva....Here is our dilemma...We are looking to see some of Jamaica other than the city of MoBay, the peddlers, etc...We want something safe and not too too far out or isolated...Would love to see some of the beauty of Jamaica..Thought about going to Dunn's River Falls just to see them, etc..Not interested in climbing them...Need some more ideas... Any help or advice would be appreciated... Can you suggest some things to drive out to see, etc..We really just want to see the sights,etc..while staying safe...Thanks for any info~~
oldmedic Posted March 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2008 we love the rockland bird sanctuary.. it is about a 10 minute drive from the dock. you can see some of my pics at http://www.oldmedic.smugmug.com we also enjoy YS Falls, but it is about an hours drive from the port, but you will see lots of gorgeous sites on the way up into the mountains.... trapeze5 Posted March 11, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 11, 2008 If you can stand a two hour drive you will see plenty of the countryside by going to the Appleton Estate Rum Tour. My review (of just the excursion) from last week's cruise is here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=732715
ajrs Posted March 11, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2008 we really liked mayfield falls. closer to mobay than dunn's. It was about a 45 min (bumpy) ride into the mountains. you can see small villages, mountain side houses, local plants and animals. it was a really nice way to see the mountains and of course the falls themselves were so neat. like walking inthe jungle. bring water shoes for the falls, they have some to rent, but having your own is a little nicer. not flip-flops as they will come off, but sturdy water shoes or teva type sandals.
