Inches Posted March 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2008 Hi All, Just need info regarding bringing wine on the ship. We would like to bring a few of our favourite brands. Does anyone know what the protocal is? Plus we are going to Alaska and can we buy some more when we are in port?
sultan_sfo Posted March 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2008 Lots of discussion about this on the Princess Board. "Officially", now 1 bottle per person allowed. Anecdotally, anywhere from 2 bottles pp to a case (12 bottles) pp were allowed. Some of those who posted their experiences appear to have traveled on the "Mayflower"! Princess changed rules to 1bottle pp in Oct 2007 but the rule is not applied uniformly! Generally, no problem bringing 1 bottle pp at each port./Sultan
Rob & Beckys mom Posted March 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2008 Hi All, Just need info regarding bringing wine on the ship. We would like to bring a few of our favourite brands. Does anyone know what the protocal is? Plus we are going to Alaska and can we buy some more when we are in port? In my experience...bring as much as you are willing & able to pack in your checked luggage, bubble wrap & extra large ziploc bags are your friends here. The prices on board for a bottle you would pay $10 for at home are around $50 in our experience only. Usually you can bring on one bottle per person at each port. tmitchell82 Posted March 12, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 12, 2008 we have never had an issue with bringing a few bottle (okay really about 5 for 2 people) on board. A few bottles in check baggage and a few bottles in our carry on. Just one bottle each......:p We did bring a box of wine last time which worked well for pre-dinner wine on the balcony with cheese from the buffet. Not the most high quality stuff, but it worked. Also does not show up in baggage screening as easily.... Granted, we do buy our share of wine on the ship as we happen to like red wine (which is much better as you watch the ocean go by on your balcony.....)
