LADYBUG34113 Posted March 17, 2008 #26 Share Posted March 17, 2008 You will love it. Maybe you fear it may be cancelled again? I had my first one this past May and I was nervous! I fear water if I don't know where the bottom is, but to tell you.....I didn't even care. I loved the whole cruise. I felt like I was really on vacation. Very relaxing and fun. Do some research and look at the pictures previous cc's have taken of the ship.
yellowbird23 Posted March 18, 2008 #27 Share Posted March 18, 2008 1. You will be able to smoke on the port side of the ship and possibly in your cabin and definitely in the casino. 2. You will be around a bunch of alcoholics for 7 days. Whoopee! 3. You will lose lots of money in the casino over and over again. 4. You will have to eat food that you are not sure what it is. 5. You will gain about 10 pounds on your trip. 6. You will have very noisy or nosy neighbors. 7. You will have to beg for an ice bucket, etc. 8. You will be bitten up by tropical bugs and jellyfish. 9. You will be in a hot oven of a room because your air conditioner isn't working. These are just some of the things that WOULD ruin your cruise, but it's all about attitude beforehand. If you expect to have a lousy time, then you will. End of story. Go...have fun....Be happy!:)

Ilovepj Posted March 18, 2008 #29 Share Posted March 18, 2008 For years my family like brother, neice, etc would go on cruises, and I always said not me, I get seasick just looking at a ship, so I never tried it. Well now I am sorry I waited so long, I just booked my 4th cruise, thanks to these boards I knew what to take before getting on the ship for the seasickness, and I did great, and still now with number 4 coming up, I am still so excited. You will not be sorry, go and have a great time, and you will be looking to book the next one when you get back. Happy cruising:D
woodey Posted March 18, 2008 #30 Share Posted March 18, 2008 I will tackle the Money Part figure out how much air fair, hotels, rental cars, gas, what ever fees it cost to and from your home...get your totals all together...then figure out what it would cost for your Grand Canyon Adventure.....add up everything I am not sure where you are from you could live in Arizona or Nevada and Grand Canyon could be alot cheaper....but i am willing to bet what you would pay in rooms and food and gas....prices would be close... I always thought cruises were pricey until i went on my first then i figured it out....here is how i figured it out I live in So Cal. we went to San Fransisco for 4 days we drove we stayed at a hotel for 3 nights there plus one night on the way home..we rented a electric car while there for a tour and went to Alcatraz for one of the days.... Hotel was $250 a night with tax and Parking Food was about $120 a day Entertainment was a total of about $250 4th night hotel $100 gas $175 gifts$100 total spent $1400 last month we took a 4 day cruise to Cabo cruise fare for 2 $780 (inside cabin) sail and sign card $230 Gifts in cabo $100 gas (we live close) $25 total $1150 So if you look at the whole picture Cruising can be cheaper then land vacations and you get a big bang for the buck...... HUNNY BUN Posted March 18, 2008 #31 Share Posted March 18, 2008 What is your sail date in May on the Valor? I'm sailing with a group of 10 on the 25th.
jayscore Posted March 18, 2008 #32 Share Posted March 18, 2008 Just think, instead of all of the hassels of getting from Point A to B, paying too much for decent meals, and staring at the same faces for thousands of miles, you get to meet new people, try new food dishes you'd never find at home, and see different cultures. And, if you're lucky, you can ditch the kids for hours at a time, leaving time for yourself for a change. And, (my favorite part!), the entire crew is there to kiss your butt for the entire time you're on board!!! I've been to the Grand Canyon, and all of this has never happened there. Just my opinion.
