formal nights on overnights?

Just curious if the formal nights ever fall on the overnights. We'll be in Beijing for one night and Shanghai for one night and in Beijing we're staying ashore. Trying to figure out how to pack!!

Formal nights are most often scheduled for @ sea days, except on very port intensive cruises in the Med. I am not aware of a formal night ever being scheduled on one of the rare overnights in port.

Nor have I ever known an overnight to be formal. Fiest choice for formal nights are at-sea days. Second choice are early departure ports (1 - 4 PM, say)...
