scubaran Posted March 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2008 Does anyone know which dive operator Royal Caribbean uses in Ochs Rios? Hi, Nope, the general opinion is Jamacia isn't a good dive location. The reefs were pretty well destroyed years ago so the dive industry really hasn't developed there (go to Dunns River Falls, in this case you'll have a lot better experience :) ). 10X Posted March 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2008 We went snorkeling once on the reefs in Ocho Rios and there wasn't much reef left. Everything was dead and covered with Sea Urchins. Fish were non-existent. I wouldn't waste my time.
KJHorton Posted March 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2008 I know most people aren't too fond of diving in Jamaica but we dove through RCCL last August. I can't remember the name of the operation. We actually enjoyed our dive, maybe partly because it was my son's first ocean dive. The reef dive was so so. We also did a wreck, which was decent, and then we swam through some caverns, which were pretty cool. There were no overhead environments, we just wove through some coral and it was very interesting. If it is the only opportunity you have to dive on your trip, it is better than nothing but if you have a chance to dive in another port, you may want to take advantage of better diving elsewhere. Thank you for the response. Did you book your dive through the ship or independantly?
