CamColt Posted September 28, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2004 On RC, specifically Mariner of the Seas, are there any adult only areas of the ship? Are kids allowed in any of the bars/clubs? Thanks!
cruisin from florida Posted September 28, 2004 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2004 We were on the Explorer. I don't know if there were any areas officially off-limits to kids, but we were not bothered by children as we pursued our week-without-our-kids vacation. I think in general there are areas of the ship that are much more appealing to youngsters than the bars. In the dining room the kids we noticed were well-dressed and well-behaved. In the Windjammer, it was obviously more casual, but again, the children who were there didn't disturb us at all. There was some entertainment that the line specifically stated would contain material not appropriate for children, and I don't recall seeing kids there. I have a pretty strong ability to tune other people's kids out, unless they are really unruly or inappropriate, but the family-friendly aspects of RCCL did not at all diminish our fun as a middle-aged couple cruising without kids. QueensChick Posted September 28, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2004 My memory is failing me because I'm sure there were others but... The solarium pool area and the disco at night were adults only areas and this was enforced by security. I'm sure the comparable areas on Mariner will be the same. Enjoy. gkrebs Posted September 28, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2004 Children under 18 are not allowed in the Dragons Lair. Adventure Ocean has a party there one night , but everyone is out by 10:00. It opens at 10:30 or 11:
Toto2Kansas Posted September 28, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2004 It has amazed me lately on how often I see children in the casino sitting at the slot machines. I do wish the cruise lines would enforce their rules, this is NOT a place for kids whether they are with their parents or not. Just my two cents. cruizinmimi Posted September 28, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2004 I have never seen small children in the casino. Every time children are brought in, they are asked to remove the children. No one under 18. You can enjoy the solarium and the spa area without children. The only time you will notice the children is at the pool outside. Go and enjoy your cruising experience :) Linda
addicted2traveling Posted September 28, 2004 #7 Share Posted September 28, 2004 Last cruise we had 2 young boys, about 12 years old, sitting next to us playing slots with no parents in site. When they didn't win anything they would hit the machine. Finally after 20 minutes of this security came over and kicked them out. But, I think they only got noticed because they were making so much noise.
