Any Shade at the Atlantis?

For those that have been there, are there any shaded areas in the aquapark or by the hotel pools at the Atlantis? I'm going through some medical treatment that makes me photo-sensitive but we have a group trip so I'm going anyway. Appreciate any insights!

I stayed for a week at Atlantis back in 2004. I also have to be careful with sun exposure. At that time there was plenty of shade but closer to the Beach & Coral towers/pools. The area near the Royal towers (talest hotel buildings with a "bridge") was very exposed and would get very hot mid day . There were plenty of pool attendents that were willing (with a small tip) to find a lounger with an attached shade/cover for you and place it where you wanted it. Granted much may have changed with all the new development (aquaventure, new hotel building, dolphin exhibit, etc.) since I've been there.

Other great hiding spots from the sun are the numerous "caves" & tunnels under waterfalls and around the property that offer awsome views of the aquariums and habitats. This in not the dig, which is all in doors, but these are scattered passages throughout the property. There are often benches there if you enjoy looking at fish and other critters. There seemed to be a larger concerntration of those options closer to the Coral & Beach towers and in front of the casino area.

If worse comes to worse, you can also run into the hotel shopping area to cool off (or to get price shock). There are many restuarants/cafe's there also. If you have access to the dig, it's airconditioned and all inside. It also offers places to sit and just watch the marinelife.

Hope you enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the inputs. I'm with a group of about 500 and much of the socializing tends to take place pool side yet due to medications I need to be careful with the sun. Figure I need to get a good high SPF cover-up and hat and maybe get one of the inexpensive and portable umbrellas for my pool chair. It may look funny but if it gives me some more time with the others that really is all that matters.

Not trying to be funny BUT at our(the one where I live) beach I always see someone at least one a year with one of those umbrella hats... not sure where they get them, same place beanies are sold I'm sure.

Good Luck and don't talk to all 500!

Just in case anyone does a search ... the answer is that the Atlantis has many chaise lounges that have their own moveable awning. Those chairs are not in every pool/beach area but in many. Certainly enough options to have met my need.

Thanks again to all who responded.
