Grand Princess New York Debarkation

I just finished two weeks on Grand, and the crew said that NYC was undoubtedly the most difficult port anywhere in the US. Debark commenced at 10:30 first week, and 9:30 the next...very late by most standards, and due to dockworkers (who did a work slowdown) and US Customs and Immigration, who were tough. Seems there is still a lot of security paranoia (or not?) in NYC.

We were on the first (9/12) Canada/New England Grand sailing and our debarkation color (orange 14) was not called until noon. We sat in the Vista Lounge from 8:30 that morning. As I recall, they did not even start announcing the colors until around 10:00. The lines at the restrooms were unbelievable. It was the slowest debarkation I have ever experienced and I've done a lot of sailing in/out of New York. This was such a let down after a wonderful week.

I sat in the casino :) you kids with the fancy perks..restrooms on our side were not crowded... and I did walk up to the 7th floor for free coffee (real stuff)I think we were cream 5.. and got off the ship and to the airport by 11:30 but that bus trip was a hoot.. I had to load and unload my bags.. and the bus driver.. well she wanted to leave with me still in the baggage area getting our bags off.. talk about LAXED SECURITY.. I could of put bags on or taken anyones off.. this at LaGuardia.. long before security checks.

We are spending millions on this homeland security.. where is the money going? It sure is not going in NY.
