Fascination Drink Coupons

Hello! I haven't been on a cruise in quite a few years. A friend was telling me that it was a good deal to buy the drink coupons that are about $22 for 4 coupons (about $5.50 each, I think?) so that you can avoid some of the extra fees that they tack on to your drink bill. Is this a good deal if you didn't want to use your room charge? I also think that I read somewhere that they charge you 15% on top of your drink bill for tax and tips. If you purchased the drink coupons, do you get to avoid the additional drink fees, or do they make you pay them in cash at the time of purchase? Are most of the drinks around $5.50 or do you end up adding more money to each drink?

I also read in a few old posts that you can take some alcohol in your checked luggage. Is this still true today?

Thanks so much! I'm leaving soon! Can't wait!

A single "drink coupon" is valid for most "mixed drinks" [such as Rum and Coke]. No additional charge. If you choose something more expensive [like a martini], you have to pay the difference. Yes, people still "smuggle" liquor in checked bags
