We are taking our first RCI cruise departing Dec. 28 (Western Carib). As we will be sailing over New Year's, we're wondering if there is something special that is done for New Year's. Can anyone provide any info on this?

We're very excited about our trip and don't know if we can stand the wait!!

Thanks!

Mike

First, make sure you join our meet & mingle, http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=564944

it's a great group and we even have our own webpage. You'll find loads of info there as you read and catch up. This is an exciting sailing since not only is it NYE, but it's also the last cruise for the Mariner before it sets sail on its 46 day journey to LA.

NYE is a real exciting time on the Mariner, we did it last year. You get party favors like hats and noisemakers, etc. at dinner and there is a special souvenir dinner menu that they give you the next day to take home. Then there are parties in every lounge and venue the whole night and free champagne starts flowing after 11:00pm. The main party is in the promenade and it is broadcast all over the ship. My wife and I went to the party on the pool deck and it was thrilling to hear a 30 second blast on the horn at the stroke at midnight. They had the celebration from the promenade on a huge screen. Parties then go on into the wee hours! So come on over to the meet and mingle and get ready to say farewell to the Mariner in a grand way!
