ENCHANTED buchart gardens

Recommended Posts

We'll be in Victoria, on the Golden Princess, on May 23, between 7pm and 11pm. The ship excursion lists an "Enchanted Buchart Gardens" tour. The description says see the gards at dusk, when lights are on in the garden, etc." This sounds like a beautiful way to enjoy the Gardens. But further on in the description it say the "Light show" starts in June. Does anyone know if we'll actually experience the "Enchanted Buchart Gardens" on May 23d?

thanks

Judy:)

From what I can see on the website, the Night Illuminations do not turn on

until mid-June, when the gardens remain open until 10:00PM

On the day you are in port, they will also be open to 10:00PM to

accommodate cruise ship passengers and it will be light until at least 9:00PM.

You will just have time to get to the

gardens, do a complete circuit and head back to the ship. The ships

excursion is a must for this, as other means of transport might not get you

back in time for sailing.

There is all the information about the gardens here:

http://www.butchartgardens.com/the-gardens/

From the What to Do section for May:

"March April May June

As the weather warms trees burst into flower. The perfumes of spring

and vibrant colours of daffodils, tulips, hyacinths and others tantalize the senses."

We were there last year on May 26, My pictures are here http://sakedad.smugmug.com/gallery/2911393_tPEQr#P-56-15 and you can see it was light and the flowers were beautiful. I would also HIGHLY recommend you only book this with the ship. It's the only excursion I did book with the ship but as it was so limited on time I wanted to make sure that if we were late they would wait for us. As it happened we had a little free time on the way back and the bus driver drove through downtown with all the lights and let us stop briefly to take some final pictures. The gardens are about 30 to 45 minutes away from the port as I recall.

Thanks for the info. At least if we book this, we won't be disappointed if there is no light show. I think we'll still do it...

SakeDad.....your pictures are absolutley gorgeous, I hope you don't mind but one of your pics is now my wallpaper.

thanks again
