Moda? St Regis? Holiday Inn Express?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me which of the three would be a safe, clean, and close hotel to Canada Place? I am searching for a hotel to stay one pre-cruise day and one post-cruise day. It would be nice if it offered a free breakfast or even if there were good eating establishments close by.

AND we really need something that is very affordable.

Thank you for any suggestions! We will be arriving in Vancouver on Sept. 16 and the post cruise stay on Sept. 24th.

The Moda and the St. Regis are both old hotels that have undergone or are undergoing major renovations and turned into “boutique” hotels. The St. Regis is about 5 blocks north of the Moda, will but you about 4 blocks from the Canada Place terminal and has Starbucks on the ground floor so can could grab a coffee and pastry for breakfast. Both are in safe locations, you can walk to most downtown attractions, the St. Regis would be closer to Gastown and the Moda is closer to the trendy Yaletown area. The Holiday Inn Express is up on east Hastings which will put you out of the downtown area but offers a free shuttle to the cruise terminal but will be a more expensive cab fare to get to it from the airport and you have to drive thru one of the worst neighbourhoods in Canada to get to it. If your priority is proximity to Canada Place go with the St. Regis, followed by the Moda and lastly the HIE. Another thought would be the Ramada Inn Limited on West Pender, they may have some good rates by mid September but while in a safe location you will be about 6/7 blocks from the terminal. You also could try Priceline, try 3 or 4 * and go to the Downtown-West Side area, by mid-September there should start to be some moderating of rates.
