What to do while there with a 9 mo. old?

Hi! We were in Belize w/our sons when they were 9 mos and 4 years old (Jan 2006). We went to Bannister Island for the day. Even the 9 month old loved it. The beach area is very large, soft sand, gentle slope. There is a playground area, very decent food, clean bathrooms, shade. It was one of our favorite stops. I'm happy to answer any questions.

This sounds great! Is the sun going to be extremely hot or blistering there? Or is it a little more mild?

Did you have to take a taxi/cab to get there? And...is this a private beach of sorts that has a website?

Thanks!

Sorry for the delay.

The day we were there, it was overcast. But, if it is a sunny day, there are several thatched roof huts you can put chairs under. Also there is a large area around the bar that is shaded and has chairs.

Actually, Bannister Island is a small key/cay and you have to take a boat to get there. I believe it took ~30 minutes to get there.

You can book an excursion through the cruise line, but we prefer to go in smaller groups. We booked w/Shore Trips (www.shoretrips.com) and were very pleased.

There is also a website: http://www.bannisterisland.com/ with great pics.

It is VERY HOT there for sure! We were just there last week. It's a great place though. Our 2nd time there and while we don't have kids yet, we'll go back there when we do! Plenty to do (or not do) and the most gorgeous beach. Clear & calm water, sandy beach with beautiful shells. We recommend it to everyone.

You can also google it!

And... for the record, it's for sale. You can find that when you google as well, just over 3 million and we can all pitch in and own it!!
