Pre cruise in whistler BC

Recommended Posts

I am a little confused by your post - are you asking for information on a tour up to Whistler that is not offered by RCCL or about a specific tour that RCCL is offering and do you want to use up 4 days at Whistler or less.

If it is the former I will dig up some links - here's one:

http://www.whistler.com

Whistler is doable in a day or one over night - it is only 100 miles north of Vancouver and even with the highway construction won't take more than 2.5 hours to get there. Whistler itself is compact - like the European ski resorts so you don't need a car to tour it.

Hope this gets you started

Cheers

Sorry for the confusion. I booked the 4 day precruise .

overnight in Vancouver, then to whistler by rail.

2 nights at whistler then back to vanc. for cruise.

So not sure if RCCL offers tours or outside vendors.

Thanks for any help.

The train ride up is superb and now that it is privately run by the same company that offers the Rocky Mountaineer a great scenic ride - is it train one way and bus return - if so your are getting the best of both worlds as the scenery and views will vary somewhat.

Here's a link to the Whistler Mountaineer web site:

You don't state what time of the year that you will be in Whistler but if in the summer and you are a golfer you will be in heaven as there are three great courses there - the entire Whistler townsite area was designed with the walker and cyclist in mind.

If it is nice and sunny spend part of a day at Lost Lake park - see if you can pick up some picnic items at one of the supermarkets and then walk the short 15 minute trek to the lake.

Think about renting a canoe and paddling the tranquil River of Golden Dreams - there are five lakes in the Valley and a multitude of hiking trails - One of the chairs on either Blackcomb or Whistler operates in the summer so you can access the alpine and the great trails there.

After you have stayed there a couple of days you will see why Whistler and Vancouver are co-hosting the 2010 Winter Olympic and Para Olympic games.

Hope this helps

Cheers

I think this is the pre-cruise offer by Whistler Mountaineer that RCCL is offering.

And yes you get the best of both worlds - train up and bus back - hopefully the bus back will also stop at a couple of the tourist attractions like the BC Museum of Mining and Shannon Falls.

Cheers
