Travel Insurance?

What is the best route to take in getting travel insurance. Is is best to go out on your own or go through Carnival?

 

If independent, which company seems to be the best?

Go to Insuremytrip.com and you can get quotes from several companies and just pick what's best for you. It will be cheaper than the cruise line insurance.

Definitely doing independent ~ not Carnival. I usually go to insuremytrip.com and it will give you a lot of options to choose from. I have always went with Travelex and the one time that I made a claim, they paid quickly with no questions asked.

ok thanks, I am just more concerned about getting insurance for missing the cruise due to airline cancellation, looking at all the flights being cancelled lately

Is there an advantage to getting insurance far in advance of your cruise? We cruise in September and didn't know if I should get insurance now or wait till closer to sailing date.

As far as I can tell, there is no savings when buying early. The only thing you really need to be careful of if you wait is that if there's a hurricane AND it has alreadybeen named ~ insurance will not cover anything to do with that hurricane. At least that is what they told me when I asked otherwise you could wait until the day before. Not sure if I would wait that long though :D

Travelex is secondary. The ones highlighted in yellow are primary.
