23sluvsg Posted April 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2008 I am cruising on Sovereign of the Seas with a 15 & 16 year old. I read a few things about the teen only club- do they get free drinks in there? Adults aren't allowed at all?? Is there any sort of suprvision in these areas? Do they serve no-alcoholic versions of drinks for a fee? Has anyone's teen done the scavenger hunt? Any suggestions for on board activites would be helpful! Thanks!:D
Onessa Posted April 17, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2008 Haven't done Soveriegn -- but have done Radiance and Splendour with a 12YO (teen club). She goes to the teen club for the first night's party to meet kids (since she's 12, they are all other girls!). The girls "hang" together -- sometimes at the teen club, sometimes at the pool, sometimes at the shows, sometimes (with appropriate parental approval and some supervision) in someone's cabin. The 12YO are a little "overwhelmed" by the teens but the counselors do a good job making certan that the older kids don't take over. They have some planned activities each day, but the kids come and go at will. There are counselors to try to get things going and to keep the peace. The scavenger hunts have always been v popular with the teen set. DD always gets the soda card. Many of the teen clubs have a spt to get soda (either at a charge per drink or with the soda card). While there are non-alcholic versions of drinks, they are all at a charge -- DD has a daily charge limit and since she is not a video game nut, she always stays below her limit. Set up some expectations for the kids. How much they can charge. Where they can and cannot go. Curfew and check-in times. Expectations for dinner (when they need to eat with you, when they can eat with their friends). etc.
