a few more RCI Visa questions

Recommended Posts

So I have tried to contact the credit card people directly to answer my questions, but they keep telling me they can't because their "system is down" I don't know what that has to do with answering my questions, but nonetheless, I have decided to ask you all instead (Your answers are probably more accurate anyway;) ).

When it talks about getting 10,000 bonus points following your first "qualifying purchase", does this mean there is anything specifically that is a qualifying purchase, or is it pretty much that anything you buy is a qualifying purchase? Is there any minimum you must spend on this qualifying purchase?

So technically speaking (and I am not doing this, just asking) you could apply for the card, make a small purchase just to use it, and get $100 OBC by using your 10,000 points?

Also, there aren't any weird rules about maintaining any kind of balace, is there? In other words, if I make a large purchase and pay it off right away, I would still get the points for the purchase, correct?

Lastly, can OBC be used in the casino or for tips that are charged to your SeaPass card?

Geez it would be so much easier if the Bank of America people would've just helped me out!:(

A pack of gum is a qualifying purchase. The card is basically useless unless you pay it off every month.

Also, I don't really need the card for another 6 months. Currently the deal is 10,000 bonus points after first qualifying purchase. Any idea if the odds are that the points offer will go up or down between now and October? I don't mind waiting for a better offer, but I don't want it to fall to 5,000 either:(

Even a small purchase is a qualifying purchase...I think they're just trying to tell people that a balance transfer doesn't 'qualify' or something like that. And no, there are no funny or unusual rules about the points. Anything relating to Royal Caribbean gets you two points per dollar spent, everything else you get one point. To build up points, I used my card for everything I purchased almost, gasoline (stations are punishing card users now so buyer beware), paying my cable bill, my cel phone bill, restaurant checks.....just be sure to pay it off because interest on a balance is a lot more than credit received for points. :)

It just went from 15,000 to 10,000. There's no telling in 6 months. They can withdraw the offer at any time.
