Rome: Recommendations for transfers TO the airport?

Recommended Posts

First time disembarking in Rome at the end of the cruise. Planning to disembark early as usual (walk off if offered), but concerned about transferring from the port to the airport for our flight home. Anyone have a limo, car service or tour company that they have used and found to be efficient and reliable??? Looking for a reliable company that can expedite the transfer.

We used Stefano with Rome Cabs. They were fantastic. The driver was waiting for us with a sign as we came out of the building with the luggage. We had asked for a 7:30 am pick up - but we were out and ready by 7:15 am and on our way. We got to the airport earlier than all of the cruise buses, checked in and beat the crowds. Made it through customs very fast.

Another vote as well for Stefano with RomeCabs. We used him for airport pick up into Rome, picked us up in Rome brought us to the ship and at the end of the cruise we had him once again with prompt reliable service each time.

Very personable as well.

We'll be staying in Rome for a few days, prior to our cruise next yr.

Do you remember how much you paid, to be picked up in Rome & taken to the ship in Civitavecchia?

Another vote for Rome Cabs. Used them four times in April 2008 and found them to be highly professional, accommodating, and reasonably priced (FCO to hotel x2, hotel to port, and then a full day tour from port to Rome, all the sites we missed pre-cruise--Ara Pacis, San Clemente, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Capuchin Crypt, and the Vatican--and then back to FCO.) For the last day full tour, we had a Vatican tour set up at 12:45pm. We wanted to eat lunch prior to that 4 hour tour, and our driver was worried about finding a restaurant that would open at noon, so he called a friend and the friend opened his restaurant for us at 11:45! We were in there eating while they were unpacking the meat and vegetables. Also, my aunt and uncle wanted to pick up a Hard Rock t-shirt for their daughter, but, alas, it was closed when we were there at 10am. Our driver then went back while we were at the Vatican to pick up the shirt. How awesome is that! Only thing that would make them better is if they took credit cards--we didn't like carrying around that much cash.

Nonrev1 -- Thanks for the info! Guessing by your name we are the same industry, the drive behind my question about airport transfers. Will be non-reving back from FCO and concerned about how early we can disembark (can it be as early as 6 or 630 like in the caribbean??) and how long to the airport... trying to make those crucial flights home! THANKS!
