Where to look for info on repo or TA cruises

I'm interested in researching CC'ers opinions of the pros and cons of repositioning cruises or Transatlantic cruises. Is there a lforum here on Cruise Critic to delve into? Thanks in advance!

You'd probably do better on a cruise line basis; e.g., Oceania, which we now do exclusively, has TA sailings going both east & west in the Atlantic. Don't lnow much about what they do in the Pacific, if anything. I'm sure that there are other lines that do TA crossings as well.

On most all cruise line web sites and some of the onlinetravel seller sites you can select Transatlantic or Transpacific as cruise region or area. Finding the repo cruises may be a bit more of a problem.

We are taking our first TA cruise this November and very much looking forward to it.

Repositioning cruises are usually longer than regular cruises, go to different places and best of all are on a daily cost basis, less exponesive. Because they tend to be longer they attract an older crowd that depending on your bent may be better or worse. Good place to find them is a great web site that advetisier here on CC. can't name them as that is not allowed but it is the way to go for vacations if you can unravel that riddle.

Love em! We have done 4 t/a's! They are running between 12 and 19 days right now for the end of year and through next year on the mid-range lines (RCCL, Celebrity, NCL). This all depends on what you're looking for. More ports=more port taxes! The T/A's into rare places like Amsterdam get booked quickly (I plan on this one for next year. Celebrity is running good deals right now for April). We have sailed from Texas, Maryland and Florida into Spain and Italy, then spent a few days there. We have only travelled eastbound in spring, but plan on doing a westbound next year. I think the biggest pro is sailing from a U.S. port instead of flying both ways. We love the relaxing sea days. Plus, you get a lot of time to know your fellow passengers! Our passengers have run the gamut from children (not a lot, 15 was the most we had on one) to seniors. Our last one was mostly mid 30's-40's and the best bunch we have sailed with yet. I can answer most questions and there are many of us that love the crossings. Repositionings are basically the same. They are not longer, they are the same type of cruise only they may call it a repositioning if it doesn't cross the ocean. For example, most lines will reposition their ships from the Med to South America starting in November. This is a repositioning cruise, not a t/a. RCCL is doing it in 14 days with the Splendour. Celebrity is also repositioning the Infinity. Besides searching for a t/a or repositioning, you can look at each lines cruise calendar for future dates, then call the line. If you know the ship is in the med, then you see on the calendar that it will be in the Caribbean a few months later, then you know there will be a crossing. I actually called NCL a few weeks ago and gave them all the dates to price their t/a's! I hope I didn't give you too much info! :D
