Currency On Independence of the Seas

I am sailing on the Independence on 6th May 2008 from Southampton. Never been with RCl before or sailed from UK. Does anyone know if the currency onboard will be dollars, pounds or euros.

Legend of the Seas from Southampton in Summer 2006 was in UK pounds and last year(April) on Legend from Tampa to W.Caribbean, they were selling stuff off in the shops on board as they were re pricing from dollars to pounds as it was coming to UK transatlantic after we got off?? Maybe someone can clarify if this was the case, that is what the shop assistant told me then.Hollyanna:confused:

Dollars, however as it is your first cruise be advised that you do not use cash, it is all charged to your room and billed to your credit card on the last day. The exception to this rule is the casino :D

RCI ships are always US$ irrespective of where they are. They did experiment with changing the currency on board to GB£ for the Legend summer season out of Southampton a few years ago, as you say, but basically it fell into the 'too difficult' category - needing to change the ATM, reprint all the drinks menus, reprice everything in the shops, reprogramme the tills etc etc....so they did not do this again. Afraid to say that your shop assistant was not giving out the right info.

don't forget your euros for your ports of call, although the exchange rate at the moment is crap - 1.20 to the pound
