Richmond Night Market

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about going to this the night before flying out of Vancouver. Is it safe for a solo woman if I take a cab back and forth from my hotel (in Richmond)

Unfortunately, the Richmond night market has been cancelled for 2008. See this story.

You might want to try the one in Chinatown, if you're up for it. (but it's going to be a 45-minute cab ride from Richmond!)

Absolutley no problem, however I do believe that the sponsors have decided not to hold it this year.

If you don't want to go into Vancouver, you might want to consider Steveston.

It is not a market but an historic part of Richmond with both shops and

historic sights(these may not be open in the evening though). It is easy to

walk around, has some nice eating places and retains some of the charm of

Richmond's early days as a fishing centre. Easily reached by cab from your

hotel.

Totally agree - love Steveston. It is lively, but not too crowded in the daytime. We love getting seafood straight from the fishing boats to take home and cook.

It quiets down at night, and you can just have a nice stroll in the evening by the docks, or have a coffee at one of the cafes and look out at the water. I think it is a very safe place for a woman travelling on her own.

An alternative to taking a cab is taking the bus.

Thanks all for your input. I'm disappointed that the Night Market is down for the count, but Steveston sounds like it may be a nice place to spend my last evening before I have to go back to the real world!!!
