How to get from IAH to Galveston?

We are coming in a day early just in case. However, Carnival won't take us to Galveston until Sunday! Anybody know a way to get into Galveston without the cruise transfer? We tried booking a car for a day down and the day back and it was ridiculously expensive. TIA!

There have been several posts here about transportation from both of Houston's airports to Galveston. I'm sure you can do a search and find lots of information. Try also checking on www.Galveston.com, www.SuperShuttle.com and with South Houston Limo & TownCar/Jose Reyes at 713-303-8299 for some options.

 

Some people have reported getting a two-day rental from Enterprise (picking up a car at IAH and dropping off in Galveston) for $54 and then renting a car from Hertz (located in the Carnival terminal/shuttle will take you and your bags to the car lot) back to IAH for $62. I think the best way to get those rates is to deal directly with the specific rental car locations not the national 800#.
