On our recent Valor Cruise was a lady who was on her 87th.. Cruise. Most may have been with Carnival.. She is one of their VIP cruisers.. She was on the inaugural voyage and was staying to go on the Western voyage also. She said that changing cabins was the one thing she hated. She told them this time that she wasnt budging cabins..

If you book a confirmed room reservation why can't you keep the same room.

With a guarantee I can understand..why not..

Im staying in the same cabin for both cruises. I guess when she booked the cabin she wanted wasn't available for both cruises.

I have a few questions, it seems there is no set routine for Back2back cruises, so I just wanted to here about your experience.

Did someone escort you off and back on the ship? Did you attend the shows for both cruises? I plan to watch the first show on one cruise and the second main show on the other.

Thanks

NO,ESCORT..........

BUT RETURNING ON THE SHIP I SAT

IN THE SKIPPER'S CLUB......

Things have changed since our last Carnvial back to back cruise in 2001. From 1994 to 2001 we did several back to backs and NEVER had to get off and reboard. We did a back to back on the Dawn Princess in May/04. We didn't have to get off and reboard on that one either.

We are doing a back to back in less than a month...I guess this time it will be different. Probably because of 9/11.(Although are Princess cruise was after 9/11) So...when you go to reboard...they let you on first? You don't have to wait with the masses I hope!!!!

We DID get the 100.00 per stateroom back to back credit. Not sure why others didn't get this...but I always ask them about it after they quote me the price for both weeks. Never got champange and photo credits though.

Happy Crusing!

Im looking forward to hearing how they handle your back to back sailings. It seems to depend on the ship and port. I have heard some got escorted off and then went right back on. Other like, Barb said they left and had to wait untile skippers club boarded. Either way, wishing you a wonderful cruise

Thanks Libertycruiser! I will let you know the scoop when I get back. (we get back on 2-19...I will post a few days later) Hopefully it won't be too painful a process. In the past when we didn't have to get off at all...it was a nice relaxing day. It was fun to watch the new group of cruisers board. Anyway back to backs are so much fun...and soooo relaxing.

  • 3 weeks later...

We just returned from our back to back on the Victory (Jan 16, 2005 and Jan 23, 2005). We received mixed messages from Carnival staff as well as US immigration officers regarding whether we had to disembark and reembark or whether we could stay on the ship. As it turns out, we left the ship and reembarked through the skippers club (based on what seemed to be a definitive answer from US immigration officers), although the pursers desk informed us that we could have checked it with them. This doesn't really offer much clarity - only tells you what happened to us!

Welcome back! I was told to checkin with the pursers deck around midweek and ask for the exact procedure. Is that what you did? Im just planning to go with the flow. Did you have the same cabin both weeks? How were your cruise(s)

Do you plan to write a review?

Thanks for the info.

The pursers desk had actually given us two completely different responses, depending on who we asked so we really didn't find them all that helpful. I didn't write a review of the two cruises but I did write a detailed review on the wedding and honeymoon board which touches on various non-wedding related issues. Feel free to check it out!

All in all, we found two weeks on the ship a bit long -- we felt a bit constrained by food and activities choices.

We just returned from a b-2-b cruise on the Legend. All passengers doing a b-2-b met at the Pursers desk at 10:30 (after all other passengers had left). We were led off, went through Customs and returned. It took all of about 10 minutes. The menus were the same on the second leg of the cruise as were most of the shows. We were able to see a few shows that we missed during the first part of the cruise. We kept the same cabin for both cruises. There were about a dozen of us who had the entire ship to ourselves for a few hours after everyone else had left - it was great!!!

"Back2Back cruises would be a great Christmas present"

We are giving ourselves a B2B on the Glory in December 2005 as our Christmas present, 12/3 and 12/10. Carnival told us to advise the purser as soon as we board that we are doing a B2B.

What is the Skipper's Club?

We did not receive any discount but we are sailing under the Military Discount and that could be the reason.

I did Legend B2B for Christmas & New Year's last year. Procedure was exactly as Mac described. Only other info was that we got a letter two days before arriving back at port telling us to go to the Purser's desk that morning, and we went back after 1:00 to get new S&S cards. Missed getting a new Boarding Photo (oh well) and had to have our pictures taken for the new cards prior to leaving the ship at the first port.

We were told in the letter that if you have to change cabins, to pack you packs/stuff and they would have either the old steward or the new on move them to the new cabin for you. We booked far enough out that we were able to book the same cabin (I always book specific cabins, if a price goes down and I can be upgraded then I call my gal at Carnival and we re-pick new cabins) so I just sat on my balcony and watched all the new folks coming aboard.

What was funny was that when we wnet to get the new S&S Cards, there were lots of lost folks boarding, so since I knew my way around I started giving folks directions and even escorted one older couple directly to their cabin. What are friendly CCer's for after all, if we don't help out others ?

Our cruise director told us there were a few cabins open for the next cruise on our ship and I wanted to stay so badly!! If it were just DH and I, we definitely would have. Kids had to get back to school, so it wasn't an option for us. I was curious about what the rate would have been though.
