MDPHX Posted April 30, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2008 Has anyone stayed at the Wakulla Suites recently? I like the location (near the beach) and the price but have read some not so great reviews. My husband and I will be travelling with our two older (18 and 20 years) sons, and we are looking for a suite hotel so we could have separate sleeping rooms. We will have a car, so we can either park at the port (Wakulla) or do the park and shuttle options (Radisson) - the price comes out about the same. I would appreciate any help. Many thanks to Preston and all who have posted so much about Port Canaveral! There is a ton of great information that has been very useful. I haven't had time to read through everything, so I apolgozie if this has been covered recently. Diane

Diane Hello Diane, Since the stinker Preston decided to take a super vacation, I am trying to answer some questions as best as I can until he gets himself back here - me I am counting the days for he is so up on information. The 2 hotels are totally different and both have their goods and their bads. If any hotel ever got all stars and good rating, I would believe something was wrong somewhere. Anyhow we will start with the Wakulla Suites - they are right on A1A and thisclose to everything you would need such as the beach, shopping, restaurants, grocery store, drugstore, Ron Jon's, Cocoa Beach Surf Shop, IHOP, Dairy Queen, Subway and this is only to name a few places. My daughter and her family stayed there last year and were very pleased with their stay. Michael the owner has a lot of tropical settings within the complex. During 2004 hurricanes, they really took a hard hit, but everything was renovated and it looks pretty good. If you have a problem with anything, you can depend on Ruby if you have a problem or question. Now the Radisson - I am partial to the Radisson even though they are so far from everything but they do have their own shuttles and one of the greatest GM's who has gone more times than not over the edge for his guest. Here is information on the Radisson: You can take the visual tour especially of the pool area and you can have a general idea what it is all about. Which ever you decide on, I am sure you will enjoy - Radisson Website: http://www.radisson.com/capecanaveralfl Beginning July 9 2007 Radisson will officially offer free transportation for guests – the Area will be the Port, Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach, Merritt Square Mall and free transportation (to and from) and highly discounted tickets to Kennedy Space Center. Free cruise parking with an overnight stay Breakfast buffet for $9.95, some higher rates include breakfast Radisson webcam (points to the port): http://www.radissonport.com/CruiseShips.htm ROOM INFORMATION PER REQUEST None of the rooms will give you an ocean view since they are several blocks from the ocean. The standard rooms are only 2 stories. the suite buildings are 3 stories. For standard rooms and either the 200 or 400 building for suites. The 200 building is closer to the pool although the pool area may get quite noisy so if you want a quiet area request courtyard view. The most favorite rooms are in the 800 building 2nd floor facing the pool. Be aware that most of the pool side rooms are king rooms. There are just a few rooms with 2 beds facing the pool. Due to the construction of high rise condo's, there are very few rooms that will give you small views of the ships unfortunalty none have a wide open view of the port any more. MESSAGE FROM JOE P. GENERAL MANAGERThe Cruise package includes breakfast and is available at all times We do shuttle any hotel guest to the port And at times we do offer discounts on rooms available on the internet and have special conditions such as no refund and prepayment BE AWARE THAT THE RADISSON IS GOING TO BE A NON SMOKING HOTEL AND NO LONGER HAVE SMOKING ALLOWED ROOMS. THERE WILL BE COMFORT AREAS FOR THOSE THAT WISH TO SMOKE. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MDPHX Posted May 1, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted May 1, 2008 Shirley: Thanks for all the information on these two hotels - it will really help us in making our decision. Also, I really appreciate all the answers you give to everyone on this board! There's so much information, I could spend hours reading it all. Hope you have a great day!
