What to do in Prince Rupert??? Input appreciated.

We sail on June 6th (so excited!) and already have an excursion booked for Skagway, Alaska. We wanted to kind of play-it-by-ear in Prince Rupert, British Columbia and were wondering if anybody had any good suggestions on things to do that don't require any advanced reservations. Any good restaurants, museums or anything of the sort would be appreciated! Thanks very much in advance.

Rupert is a "REal" fishin/logging town. Easy to walk from the dock. If you have never been to a fishing Cannery there is one at Port Edward that I'm sure they will run tours to and you could go on your own easily. If the weather is nice it's really pretty. If not it's just another socked in coastal town with lots of trees and water :)

We were there last week. It was rainy and chilly. Cowpuccino's is a cute little coffee house in the Cow Bay area--easy to find.

 

The museum of NW BC (don't remember the exact name) was very nice. I think $5/person. It took us maybe 30-45 minutes to go through, so you're not tied up all day. The building itself is beautiful.

 

We wanted to rent scooters to see the pretty scenery outside of town, but it was too rainy--we didn't want to risk the slick roads. We did talk to the owner, and he was very personable. The business is Pegasus Scooters. You'll see his set up on the way to the Cow Bay area.
